Decided to join a forum for the advice as I have acquired a boat which sat for over thirteen years in my neighbors backyard. I poured a lot of energy into saving this boat. It looks decent today and I continue to work on the engine. Two Strokes are louder and not as easy on the environment but this one seems to be worth trying to save.

Great clean up. Never can understand how people can let a boat get that bad.

Well done! And the Optimax motors are pretty clean running. Either 2 or 3 stars. Enjoy it.
My sticker was a 3 star but i still see exhaust at idle. Someday will get a four stroke. By the time that happens all the rage will be focused on clean electric motors ( maybe).

Nice Work! You can find a new cowling on Craigs List or E-Bay. Do yourself a favor and have the motor gone over by a Mercury trained technician, the money will be well spent. Opti Max motors + Bubba Backyard Buddy = nothing but trouble.

Thanks for advice. I did get a new-used cowl off of ebay. Needs a wrap or stickers

I did purchase a small sticker for the engine but it really is not for boats in general more towards the concept of getting outdoors. figured I would put stickers on my engine that people would read on the road at stop lights etc that would be more entertaining, responsible or enticing to get out doors. I found this sticker.
