Good Luck with the rod storage. I have a 189 Sport, there is rod storage, if you want to call it that, behind the back seats. However I am hard-pressed to get more than 4 rods in there and 7ft is the longest. I have done a bunch of upgrades and personal add-ons to make it more fishable and still be family friendly just this winter so I would love to see what you come up with - keep us posted

We also have a 2008 189 sport. I agree with Little Scrooge although I can get 6 rods in mine behind the seat... but nothing over 7ft... amd none of mine are expensive ones. We fish mostly from ours but love the extra room the 189 gives us.

I was thinking perhaps mounting some PVC pipe together spaced to hold the rod tips in the front end of the floor locker. I'm stuck on how to mount the butt ends of the rods on the other end.

Little Scrooge, I would love to see the upgrades you have done to yours... perhaps in another post. We bought ours this past December and are just getting it figured out.
