Boat has been sitting. What maintenance do I need to do?

You're probably going to have to drain the gas tank and clean or rebuild the carbs if it has carbs. Change any fuel filters, separators and drain the fuel lines. Put the fogging oil in the cylinders before cranking for sure.

    Motor Swap

All your connections will work but depending on the boat weight and length you might not get on plane easily or at all. Check the manufacturer recommendations for power ranges then the prop will have to be custom selected.

Where to mount a VHF antenna on a 2022 Tracker Targa V19

The second spot is where I located my mast but on a different model, mine is a fiberglass 288 Sport, I didn't encounter anything underneath and was able to sneak the cable under the windshield frame to extend it to the radio location just beneath the throttle shift location.

    2012 Z7 Trailer brakes

I get that a lot too, usually simply a slightly corroded wire terminal connection. Twist it, clean it, spray with some electronic cleaner and verify the ground is good. Unlikely that the solenoid is failed.

I know some of those motors had electronics that locked out two cylinders at low rpm and at somewhere around mid-throttle the other two kick in and you get that sensation and sudden lurching of the added power. Have to be careful the crew is ready for it.

    measuring motor height

It sounds like you should RAISE the motor 1/4" to reduce your gap of 3-3/4", right? Other than that, try running with the current or get a tailwind, you're splitting hairs and in dangerous territory for what it's worth. Among other things you could start a chine walk with the hull or some...

    Taller Seats

Hey there, I've got the same boat but in a 288 Sport, she's a20 footer, year 2003. The seats are essentially the same, I replaced mine a couple years back and you still feel as if your sitting on the deck. It's challenging to navigate also at times and I wind up kneeling on the seat or...

    2001 Nitro 188 Fish & Ski setup

Here's a sketch I found from a different forum on this site. It's very similar to one that I used to set up my re-power project to get it right.

    2001 Nitro 188 Fish & Ski setup

You really should have hydraulic steering on a motor that size anyway, way too much torque for cable steering. It was one of the must do items on my repowering project. That hydraulic plate will surely be an advantage while dialing in the performance. How did you select the prop by the way? I...

    2001 Nitro 188 Fish & Ski setup

Same here, I'm going to have to gps clock mine next time out, I've been using the speedometer that frequently clogs up while at WOT!

    2001 Nitro 188 Fish & Ski setup

That's interesting about the pylon, mine is plenty high even though my motor is a long shaft on a jack plate but perhaps the motor part is the same height regardless of shaft length? Anyway, I'd think I may have issues towing a low on the water item such as a tube or knee board on a short rope...

    2001 Nitro 188 Fish & Ski setup

So I went through this process extensively when I re-powered my 2003 288 Sport with a 225 Evinrude Ficht. I used a jack plate and had to reset the bolt-on height once to accommodate the maximum and optimum prop height below the keel dimension. You basically raise it as high as she'll run...

    Boat Leaning

I wonder if the trim tab is adjusted right on the lower unit, it is a zinc bolted on just above the prop. If you have ever re-propped the motor or if it's damaged or worn it may cause such issues.

Needed 2000 Nitro 175 Sport Wiring Diagram

You can find used rigging at most marinas, I even have a yard on the eastern shore of Maryland, there are others too and ebay is always a good source.

Needed 2000 Nitro 175 Sport Wiring Diagram

Other than that if it's having to do with the motor rigging, the manufacturer of the motor would have a diagram that could be helpful. I converted my 2003 288 Sport with an Evinrude rig and had to change it out with an Evinrude harness and sold the original Mercury harness for parts.

    Tow pylon

I wonder if you couldn't have one turned at a local machine shop for less money out of aluminum stock? If you take them the socket adapter for thread dimensions it might work out?

    Catch and release boat loading

These rigs are a bit challenging to load and unload by oneself, for sure but I always mange to get it right now. I think the previous owner had a problem with a smaller motor. I repowered to a 225 and I believe it could have been a bit smaller before. The extra weight on the stern plus the...

    Tracker Trailer Problem

I've got the same rig, I believe , a 2003 custom trailer and 288 F&S. I have to be exact when throttling up and use lots of HP. I repowered to a Evinrude Ficht 225, perhaps the weight added helps it align with the rolleer?

How do you know the gauges are truly bad? Perhaps it's aground or other electrical issue.

    Tilt and Trim???

It sounds as if your trim reservoir could be low on fluid, the bypass screw could be siezed, or some other malfunction of the trim tilt assembly - more than likely mechanical or hydraulic failure. Get it fixed or you could get stranded on the water - not good!
