I had a similar problem with a 90 HP 2 stroke Mercury. It is possible to fix the float switch wit a little skill and patience. The plastic float becomes separated from the contact switch. Careful removal of the float, cleaning and superglue. Vic

As Larry has stated, replacement is pretty easy. Note: always use marine grease. They specify a Lucas product (calcium sulfonate based). BTW Larry, had the same issue with the plastic cap. It cracked about half-across in the threads. Lucky we noticed it before any damage. n Vic

I came up with a convenient option to hold a coffee mug, pliers, lures, etc. A boat caddy was installed front and rear. The front is held in place by two screws and the rear slides down over the pedestal after drilling a 2" hole. We'll try'em out this weekend. Vic

Cant help on the replacement seats. I can add that a new rear fishing seat for my Z18 is $500, way too much. Just a little perspective.

I too had the problem that Larry has described. The magnet separates from the float which results in a false low oil tank level. I was able to carefully remove the two pieces and superglue them back together. 2001 Mercury 90 HP 2-stroke. There's some Internet info available. Vic
