They are both the same motor the only difference is the pro X's was given to mercury racing and tweeked to get a little more top end and more torque out of the hole optimax top end 50 mph Pro X's top end 52 mph

It seems you are talking non trimmable motors the trim system lifts and lowers the motor if you go back to manual lift then you have a motor that will bounce off submerged objects .nowadays the motors are locked in with the trim motor.

Had a 2011 wow right turn Clyde 2013 came with anti feed back changed the boat handling completely. Definitely change out with antifeean back steering .before you do are you considering putting on a jackplate I would do that first then the steering cables

Third owner no warranty at all it might have changed but I don't think so life time warranty is for the original purchase in my warranty package

You can transfer the warranty but it is only a ten year warranty now that there is a second owner and the warranty is from the original purchase date .

If your going to replace the steering cable I would go with antifeed back steering much easier on a long run
