I have seen may things happen at the boat ramp, including vehicles in the water and boats sliding down the ramp into the water off of the trailer.

Check your fluid at the pump on the steering wheel. Just unscrew the knob behind the steering wheel and look in to see the fluid.

my wheels are rusted on my 2005 Nitro185 trailer

Have been running aluminum wheels for a long time on the boat trailer. Most Tire dealers will tell you aluminum wheels are better and balance better that steel wheels. Order from Wheels from amazon and ordered tires online as well.

Boat has been sitting. What maintenance do I need to do?

Would most definitely change the water pump impeller. It may pump water for a bit and then come apart when on the water. Speaking from experience.

    2014 nitro z8 speed issues.

You have around 23% prop slippage. The roster tail higher that the motor is usually an indication that the motor is too high for that prop. The prop you have is calculates out to a speed of 72 mph at 11% slippage. Not a prop designer but have been around prop designers and some of the best...

    z 21 2016 top speed

Some questions: Is the mph GPS reading? How Many Motor rpms while running that speed? Does it have a 10" Jack plate (I believe it's standard a Z21)? What Prop and size? How high is your roster tail when running at that speed? How many inches it the motor height?

I put in lithium batteries in my z8 and lost 12 mph

The change in props and the motor height is where you lost the speed. As far as 91 nonethanol octane verses 87 octane there will be little difference in performance. The gas needs to be nonethanol due to the increase of ethanol from 10% to 15% would be the concern now on boat motors.

    measuring motor height

It is a possibility that the torque increase could make it hard to turn.

    measuring motor height

The prop slippage is around 13 percent which is good. If the boat is steering good then I would leave it alone. You can lower the motor, but mark the jack plate with a pencil before moving it so it can be return to the mark if needed.

    measuring motor height

Keep an eye on your water pressure. Your prop is slip is 21% to 26%, which is a little high. Check your rooster tail (should be motor height or a little lower) is a quick way to tell if your motor is close to the right height. To fine tune a motor will require a jack plate. The range of the...

    Hello

First find measure your lower unit height to the bottom of your boat. Then check the height of your roster tail (should not be above the height of the motor). If it is to high try lowering the motor, or if it is to low try raising the motor .25 inches at a time. That may help take out some of...

    Correct Trailer

I had a problem with finding the right size rear seal. The auto parts stores sells a standard Bering kit with new seals (always had water in the hub). These seals will not fit the axel spindle. went got on the internet found the axel brand and ordered the seals to fit. Was replacing bearings and...

Non ethanol gas for Mercury XS Pro

Run non-ethanol 91 only one available around this area for 20 years or better. The biggest problem before non-ethanol was the fuel lines deteriorating, even the ethanol rated fuel lines. Also, fuel tank see to gather water when it set for over a month. I run ethanol free gas, because it is...

    On Board Charger

Depending on what type of batteries, a deep cycle battery recommends a minimum of a 10 amp battery charger. This would require a 20 amp battery changer for 2 bank charger. I use a 30 amp 3 bank auto on board charger and a few times a year use a manual 10 amp to charge the batteries.

I LOVE my boat - is it overengineered?

That is the only problem with buying a new boat, working on fixing all of the quirks. I happens on all brands of boats, just breaking in of a new boat. Once all is done then you still have a new boat without the problems. Enjoy your new boat.
