    Z7 Engine Height

I have a Nitro Z7 with 150 Pro XS (no jack plate). My motor is mounted in the second hole from the top. On Nitro's website, I see a photo of a Z7 with the motor mounted in the third hole from the top, which puts the motor higher on the transom than mine. I am wondering how others have theirs...

    Z-7 WOT RPM/Top Speed

Mine does chine a little when the speed gets close to 60, but it is not that bad. When it is windier, I just trim it down a bit and then the ride is fine. I would be very curious to see what kind of numbers you get with the Fury.

    Z-7 WOT RPM/Top Speed

I have the same boat as you with no jack plate either. With 2 people, full tackle, and 1/2-3/4 tank of gas, the best I get in calm conditions is 59 MPH (GPS) at about 5250 RPM's. Going with the wind, I have seen up to 61 MPH at about 5350 RPM's. Are you also running a Tempest Plus 24p prop...

Saving Waypoints on a Humminbird 798

I have a Humminbird 798 GPS and would like to save my waypoints to an SD card. In one of the slots, I have a Navionics chip, and an SD card in the other. The instructions say to go to the Main Menu, select the Navigation tab, and then cursor down to "Export All Nav Data". I can find the...

    Water Pressure ?

I have the same boat, motor, and prop as you do, and my water pressure at WOT is about 18 psi. With a similar load as you described, my top speed on a calm day is 59 mph at about 5250-5350 RPM's. You seem to be getting good speed. What are your RPM's like? Do you have a jack plate or...

    Increasing prop pitch

I don't know what numbers you will get, but I can tell you that I am running a Tempest 24p on my Z7 with a 150, and I am only able to turn 5250-5350 RPMs at WOT. That is right at the low end of Mercury's recommended RPM range. My guess is that 24 will be too much pitch for a 115 and your RPMs...

    Rough Water Driving

Thanks for the advice, Jim. I do have a wheel trim, but no hot foot. I know what you mean about it being hard to make quick adjustments with the throttle. Do you have a jack plate? I do not, and wonder if adding one would "smooth out" the ride in rougher water. I still have not made up my...

    Rough Water Driving

I have a Z7 and have been out numerous times with 1 to 1 1/2 foot waves and good size whitecaps, and every time the Z7 has given a great ride. If the waves are close together, I am able to give it enough gas to run the tops of them and the ride is incredibly smooth and dry. The other day, I...

Jack plate and power pole installation

Will do- thanks for the advice. There are so many options to consider!

Effect of prop torque on boat loading

Now that does sound like the perfect way to load a boat, although I think I'm going to need a few more years seat time before I get the courage to give it a try!

Jack plate and power pole installation

Thanks, Dan. I checked out that site and they definitely seem to have everything that is needed. I see that there are many different mounting brackets for power poles, some that attach to the side of certain jack plates and some that mount between the motor and the transom using the motor...

Jack plate and power pole installation

I have a Nitro Z7 with no jack plate. I am considering the possibility of adding a jack plate and mounting a power pole to the jack plate. I have a couple questions: 1) Will the bolts that attach the jack plate to the transom go into the same four holes that the motor bolts do now? I hate...

Effect of prop torque on boat loading

Thanks for the replies. I will try changing the trim next time.

Effect of prop torque on boat loading

Hi, I have searched a lot of posts about boat loading, and posted some myself on the old NTOWS site, but I have never found anything about how prop torque affects how the boat goes on the trailer. Here is why I am asking this- when I winch the boat (Nitro Z7) in with no power loading, it goes...

    Z7 Prop

Mike, thanks for the advice and the link. I will check it out. Mike

    Z7 Prop

Thanks to everyone that replied. It seems that I am not the only one right at the bottom of the recommended RPM range. It does make me wonder why they are putting 24p's on at the factory. The WOT RPM range for the motor is 5250-5750 according to the manual. I am not even close to the...

    115 Merc Steering

Are you running the boat with the motor trimmed all the way down for the break in period? When trimmed all the way down, it is normal for the steering to be very hard to the left. My Z7 is the same way, which I believe is because the prop is right hand rotating, so the boat has a tendency to...

    z7

I have a Z7 with a 150 HP and questioned this before I bought the boat. My understanding is that a manufacturer can rate a boat at or below what the Coast Guard determines is safe for the boat. I believe rating the Z7 for 150 instead of 200 is mainly a marketing thing, as BPS wants to sell...

    Boat operation

Make sure that your motor is tilted up when backing the boat down the ramp and when pulling it out so there is no chance of it hitting bottom. Periodically run the bilge pump when on the water to pump the water out. Also, it is a good idea to learn to drive your boat at slower speeds first...
