Consider yourself lucky. I did the same thing on the Warrior River in Alabama running 60mph. It ripped jack plate mounting bolts completely through the transom. The motor was being held on by cables and hyd steering lines.

It could also have something to do with how far your backing the trailer in and how steep the ramp is. Mine hits every now and then on my 99' NX 882 if I back into the water to far on a steep ramp.

Your fighting a losing battle. I have dealt with this same issue in my 882 for years. I found its easier to take a cooler that will fit in one of the compartments behind the seats on the back deck. I would put ice in my cooler under the seat and it would be melted before i got to the lake...

The way mine is setup now I can't trim the motor but to halway on the trim gauge without it chine walking all over the place. Also is there some type of sensor that keeps you from trimming the prop completely out of the water? Mine stops trimming at exactly halfway on the gauge, but like I said...

Mine runs around 5600-5800 rpm's at top speed, which is 58-60 depending on the water and gear I have loaded up.

The funny thing is the guy I bought it from told me it would run 74 on his GPS...... he also told me the motor was raised as high as it would go when actually it was just the opposite. He had it lowered all the way.

I am running a 99' Nitro NX 882 with a Mercury 23 tempest. Ive got the jackplate all the way up and the motor mounted in the bottom holes. On a slick day I can only manage 58-59 mph at best.

I tried once before to epoxy the transducer in the bilge area and just could not get it to work correctly. I guess I'm now taking the easy way out.

1999 Nitro Nx 882, I do not have much room to mount them. I've found the only place I can mount and still be affective at high speed is underneath the drain plug and livewell drains.

By the way, one unit is Humminbird and the other is Lowrance. I don't know if that matters.....

I can tell you that time of year you should throw one bait only, a RaT-L-Trap. Try to fish wind blown pockets in 2-8 ft of water with good grass. You wanna be "ticking" the grass with your bait. You may have to cover some water to find the fish but if you get on them, HOLD ON! By the way...
