    storage compartment straps

I used ratchet straps on my Z-7 live well lids and they worked great. There are several different thicknesses available out there to picked the thinnest I could find. Lasted longer then the originals did, and were still on it when it was sold last year.

    my new z9

Very sweet looking rig. I bought one Sept 2013 in a color pretty close to that. Hope you enjoy it as much as we have ours. Great ride, and still has more room then I know what to do with.

If your looking for a long lasting, high quality trailerable cover I highly recommend Aurora Canvas. http://www.auroracanvas.com/ Have had one on every boat I've owned and never had a complaint.

    Alarm lights vs audible

Yes, you can wire in a light to the alarm without problem. While the guardian mode is there to prevent damage to the motor, I to wanted a little more notice prior to having it kick in. Found this on the BBC and it's a very easy mod to do yourself. Works great...

    new to me ranger

Wouldn't worry too much about the hot-foot at all. It'll only take about 1 trip and you'll wonder how you lived with out it on other boats. Congrats on the new rig and enjoy... :)

    In Hull Transducer Installation

If it doesn't come out with a few whacks on the side you can also just leave it in place. I recently upgraded my electronics and the old ducer didn't seem to think it needed to leave so I just cut the harness off next to it and left it in. Placed the new one right next to it and no problems.

Looking for a new depth finder

I have the HDS series and am quite pleased with them. However I'm sure people with Hummingbird will tell you the same thing. It's kinda a Chevy vs Ford issue, each brand seems to have it's loyal base and each has it's good points and bad, however I must say, I have yet to see any bad with my...

    rod locker org

Or, build your own, and still use the socks. That's what I did, and works great. :)

    Speedo quit working

Check the inlet hole on the motor. Will be a small hole just above the prop shaft front side of the motor, probably picked up some junk while on the water. Mine does it all the time. Use a small drill bit, (don't use the drill) just use the bit in your hand to remove any clogs in the pressure...

    Just dies

If it's only dieing at or near full throttle, I'd check fuel line long before I started replacing coils/powerpacks etc. Look for a kink or depending on the age, possibly collapsing. Ethanol in todays fuel is terrible on rubber/plastics. Had a similar thing happen on a new Opti and found a...

    Lowrance Side Imaging

Well dug out the original mount for the LSS transducer this afternoon. Now I didn't disassemble my mount to make sure all the wires, and screws would clear the boat but it does have the hinge in the correct place so might work for mounting the transducer on the step rather then on the transom...

    Lowrance Side Imaging

Jimmy, yes, I mistyped there, they are bolts with self locking nuts on them. Of course sealed up with a good quality sealant. As for mounting it with the supplied bracket, I "believe" there is enough adjustment you could just use that on the bottom of the step in stead of on the rear transom...

    Lowrance Side Imaging

The shield on the step could be considered a little over cautious I suppose but I figured since Lowerance isn't selling just the transducers and I do quite a bit of "stump fishing it was worth the few extra bucks. Besides with the luck I have if it can go wrong or break it usually does so I...

    Lowrance Side Imaging

I mounted the transducer on the step of my Z-7. Got the guard from Scap and Shirley over at "Transducer Shield & Saver". He's got several different mounts available. Jackplate mounts, step, even a combo unit for the trolling motor, which holds both the LSS and the 2D ducers. Give him a buzz...

    Lowrance Side Imaging

Yes and must say it's very impressive. I have the HDS 8 on the console and a 5 up front, will eventually upgrade the front to an 8 as well I think. The ability to split the screen 3-4 ways is just too nice to have, and the 5 can only do 2.

    Lowrance Networking

All you'll need is one of the cables Mike posted above, (or the 5 ft one from LEI). You can connect the HDS's together via the ethernet cable or "if" you get the LSS unit you'll still need another ethernet cable since the LSS comes with one already. With the LSS both the HDS units will be...
