    Today is .30 cal day...

Have a mixed load of .308 and .300 AAC brass in the ultrasonic cleaner right now. Going to reload some .308 for a friend, some .308 in steps for me to test in a rifle, and bulk load some .300 AAC for me to have fun at the range with on the next trip. All the best, Glenn

    MVM 2014 On the Horizon

I'm jealous. I can't even find people to fish with here locally. Too many people that don't like the sun. Hope you all have fun. All the best, Glenn

    Non-Scented Soap

I use hunting soap by Hunters Specialties or Primos, depending on what is available on sale after each deer season ends. I figure if it's good enough to wash with before hunting deer, it's good enough to wash oils and other stuff off my hands while out on the boat. All the best, Glenn

    Sig Sauer

I bought already converted brass a long time ago, but I will eventually get the jig for a Harbor Freight chop saw and just make my own like this guy does: . I've already got the .300 AAC BLK dies. I have a lot of .223 laying around as well. All the best, Glenn

    Fishing with Age

I've fished Kerr Reservoir with snow coming down, breaking ice on the ramp backing down. Broke ice out of my guides all day long, and couldn't run the outboard engine at any speed without putting on a full faced motorcycle helmet so my head wouldn't freeze. Stayed out most of the day and...

    Sig Sauer

If making brass from .223 (that's what I use), the case for the AAC is cut a little shorter than where the neck on the .223 starts, and then that resulting brass is necked down to .308 cal. Here is one of my recent reloads (125 grain Sierra ProHunter, for a O.A.L. of 2.061") beside a factory...

    Sig Sauer

I'd definitely go .300 AAC Blackout between those two calibers. The 7.62x39 will be cheaper to shoot, and the ammo will be more readily available, but read up on how problematic 7.62x39 is in a AR (mostly feed problems). Some people have got it whipped, but I still don't like it. I've never...

Bought the new XDS-9 "4.0" pistol

I've been wanting an XDS. I went back and forth between the 9 and .45. Tough decision. I wanted the .45 because I've never owned one. But common sense made me also look at the piles of 9mm ammo I already have for my other pistols (and the complete lack of .45 ammo) and say "be reasonable -...

    Map cards for HDS

It's all personal opinion. If you just want opinions, I'll tell you mine. No, I do not think the 3D mapping is worth the extra money. I don't even care for the way it looks most of the time. But that is just my opinion. Most people (that I know) think it "looks really cool", and then end up...

Remington will market a "new / improved" 9mm Model 51

texag93 on the Texas Bowhunting Forums was at the Shot Show and posted some pictures of the R51 that I thought you might like. Post #96 here: http://discussions.texasbowhunter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433030&page=2 But here are some of the pictures for you:

    Who else reloads

I've found out just how lucky I am when it comes to shotshell reloading. The National Shooting Complex is about 5 minutes from my house, and when they have their big competitions all the vendors come out. Pretty easy to get some really good deals on bulk supplies. Lead shot, primers, hulls...

    What have I done??? .500 S&W purchase

Rich, I don't have it in hand yet. He just mailed it today, and I should have it early next week. All the best, Glenn

    What have I done??? .500 S&W purchase

Yep. That will be the first thing I do. I like Limbsaver pads, but it's got a wooden stock on it, so I'm not sure if the one they sell (for the synthetic stock) will fit, or if I'm going to have to do some matching and/or grind-to-fit work. No matter what, it's getting a good recoil pad first...

Finally! Got a LULA for my LR-308 magazines!

I asked about this at Maglula for well over two years now (probably closer to 3 years). I've read post all the way back to 2008 and earlier, with Maglula talking about building one for the LR-308 / SR-25 platforms. Well... I finally have one in my hands. Fits my Magpul magazines perfectly! I...

    Who else reloads

Hmmm... Interesting. I just might have to get one. Let me know how you like that. I would jump on it now, but I just finished buying the last of my add-on tools for my current (Hornady) case trimmer, and it would be a shame not to at least use it for a while! All the best, Glenn

    What have I done??? .500 S&W purchase

Oh... and your "dream gun" is in my buddies house. At least I think you would like it. He has an awesome Browning Citori in a kit with all the gauge adapters. They are full length barrel tubes. I think he has 20, 28, and .410 tubes for this 12 gauge, all in a nice presentation case. The guy...

    What have I done??? .500 S&W purchase

Thanks Greg. I don't own any Lee die sets, but I have the Lee Factory Crimp dies for just about everything I reload, as well as one of their universal decapping dies (I love that thing!). My hesitance with Lee is that all of the ones I have start to rust fairly easily. When I touch them, the...

    What have I done??? .500 S&W purchase

Ha! Ain't that the truth! Problem is... ammo is hard to find, but so are the components for this one. Even the dies were out of stock at my normal places. All the best, Glenn

    Who else reloads

Oh yeah! Great present. I have the RCBS version. I don't think it matters though - Lyman, Hornady, RCBS - all of the case prep machines are awesome tools. I have the two sizes of primer pocket reamers, two sizes of primer pocket brushes, neck brushes, and the chamfering and deburring heads...

    What have I done??? .500 S&W purchase

I'm well on my way to turning this cheap rifle into a more expensive rifle (Ha!). I've love using the JP Recoil Eliminators, and I just found out they make one for .50 cal. So I'll probably be ordering a JPRE-9 and getting the barrel threaded. All the best, Glenn
