    Question About Selling My Boat

Hi, I have a 2003 Basstracker PT 175 with a 50 HP motor, in excellent condition with accessories, including a bimini top and a ladder on the back. I have a friend who wants to buy it. Where can I get information on setting a fair price? Many thanks, Bill

    Driver's Seat on 2004 Tracker PT 175

Thanks, Downstream. I follwed your suggestion and fixed the problem. Bill

    Battery Charger

OK, looks like I need a new onboard battery charger. Might as well replace my batteries, too. They're 5 years old. Thanks for all the input. Bill

    Battery Charger

I thought the onboard charger was a "smart" charger. That is, amp down to a float charge allowing you to keep your charger online and your battery always properly charged, and never overcharged.

    Vendor For livewell parts

Thanks, Glenn. I know my description of the part I need doesn't match anything I could find on the net. But thanks for your offer. I am going to ask my son-in-law to fabricate some screens for me. Again, thanks. Bill

    Rub Rail Issue

    Thanks. Will do.

    Rub Rail Issue

Thanks, Harpo. As for fishing in the trees, my view is that if I'm not occasionally hanging up and bumping into stuff, I'm probably not fishing where the fish are. I'll call my Tracker dealer and see what he can do for me. Bill

    Navigational Lights

OK. It looks like I'll be safe changing the 5-amp fuse to a 10-amp fuse. Then I'll upgrade the wiring to 14 gauge next time the boat is in the shop. Wish Tracker had anticipated the addition of accessories and installed 14 or even 12 gauge wiring when the boat was being built. Thanks...

Leaking PT 175 To Be Repaired

TEE, I agree that this boat didn't get the attention it needed at the factory, given the flexing deck and missed weld. I recall years ago my dad telling me not to ever buy a car that was built on Monday or Friday. Monday, everyone is hung over and worn out, and on Friday, everyone is...

Leaking PT 175 To Be Repaired

I think the boat has leaked from the start. I have always noticed a flow of water from the bilge when I pulled the plug after an outing. I thought maybe more water was getting splashed in than I realized. However, the accumulation of water seemed larger more recently. That was when I did the...

    Anyone Ever Have This Happen?

I really am glad to have the information about the weld needing to be repaired from the inside, and the foam needing to be removed. Now I'll have better questions to ask when I talk to the service dept. again. Thanks everyone!

    Leaking boat

Forgot to mention that I located my problem by running a few gallons of water into the bilge area with a hose, then lowering the bow. The leak at the keel was then immediately apparent. Bill

    Leaking boat

Terry, I also have a 2003 PT 175 with at least one leak. I've identified a leak in the area of the lower part of the central aluminum strip that runs from the bow point down over the keel. I've returned my boat to the Tracker dealer in Austin. My boat has already been sent back to the factory...

    Anyone Ever Have This Happen?

TEE, you think a broken weld on the keel strip would have to be repaired from the inside? Ouch. That sounds like a major job, taking up the front deck and more. I had hoped this would be a simple fix with a reasonably short turnaround. But I would want it done right.

    Duct tape? Cool!

    Anyone Ever Have This Happen?

Steve, That's very interesting, and encouraging. Is your 17 ft. Basstracker the same boat that had the broken weld? If so, where did the broken weld occur? It's very tempting to find somebody close to home to do the repair. But I would be concerned how that would affect my warranty. Any...

    Anyone Ever Have This Happen?

I hope I'm not being excessively optimistic, but I still think my PT 175 is a good boat. It handles great, and the wife and I have had a lot of fun taking the family fishing and tubing. At this point I'm not willing to say that any of the problems are fatal flaws. Couldn't a bad weld be fixed...

    Anyone Ever Have This Happen?

Mini, I think a bad or cracked weld is probably what it is, on the strip that covers the keel of the boat.

    Boat Back Home!

TEE, The service tech at the dealership said the lower step, to the side, would be better for mounting the transducer(fewer bubbles and turbulence). And several members on this board have posted comments that the lower the better, away from the prop. But apparently the transducer should not be...

    Boat Back Home!

David, Thanks for the information and the picture. Looks like a really nice setup. However, I've already bought a two-step ladder from BPS and I think that will meet my needs. And the transducer will definitely need to be mounted on the starboard side of the transom, on the lower step. Bill
